Producers of aluminum, copper and lead will be obliged to supply raw materials to the domestic market of Kazakhstan

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the Government to develop legislative mechanisms to influence large producers due to the unavailability of raw materials on the domestic market.

“Available raw materials, and this is the basic condition for development, are not enough for the Kazakh manufacturing industry. Complaints from Kazakhstani producers about the unavailability of domestic raw materials continue to be received. The adopted legislative norms are still “stalling,” the Head of State said during an expanded meeting of the Government.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, other major manufacturers refuse to sign agreements on supplies to the domestic market under various pretexts. The main volume continues to be exported — 87% aluminum, 98.8% copper, 77% lead.

“The Government should develop additional legislative mechanisms to influence large producers to fully provide domestic processors with affordable raw materials,” the President concluded.
