What you need to know about fingerprint and genomic registration of citizens
From January 1, 2023, the Law “On Fingerprint and Genomic Registration” is put into effect, which involves the collection, processing and protection of fingerprint, genomic information.
The necessity and relevance of this innovation include such cases as fires and plane crashes with numerous victims in different conditions, the discovery of unidentified corpses, biological traces from the sites of unsolved crimes, the disappearance of people missing when it is impossible to establish or confirm the identity of a person.
The presence of fingerprint and genomic information in the relevant databases will allow identifying victims, as well as reducing the lists of missing and unidentified corpses.
Fingerprint registration
Fingerprint information refers to information about the features of the structure of papillary patterns of a person’s fingers and about his personality.
The electronic code of papillary patterns will be contained in biometric passports and certificates of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A citizen will face the procedure when receiving new, already biometric documents – an identity card (a chip is already installed in it) and a foreign passport of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan of a new sample (also with a built-in chip).
