The issue of consumer rights: the number of complaints from the population of North Kazakhstan region on the quality of goods and services has increased

First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev during a visit to the North Kazakhstan region announced that a new law on consumer protection is being developed, as the correspondent of MIA Kazinform reports. At a meeting with business representatives, the chairman of the Association for the Protection of Consumer Rights and Entrepreneurs of the region Nadezhda Dubovaya raised the issue of consumer rights. According to her, with the introduction of a moratorium on business inspections, the number of complaints from the population about the quality of goods and services has increased.

“We receive three or four complaints every day. I would like entrepreneurs to be responsible for the quality of goods and services. We receive complaints not only about the quality of industrial goods, but also food. And this is the health of the population. And it is impossible to make a claim. Sometimes we come on a well—founded complaint, they refer to the moratorium,” N. Dubovaya informed.

A.Shakkaliev agreed with the problem. He noted that the number of requests from consumers has increased tenfold across the country.

“On the one hand, there is an increase in the consumer culture of the population. On the other hand, there is a violation of consumer rights everywhere. And the smallest thing is the violation of labeling, fine print. We often see when one composition of food ingredients is indicated, in fact they are absent. We have written a good consumer law. We are increasing the role of public organizations, saying that the consumer has the constitutional right to apply to government agencies or to the court directly. Now the consumer must prove, contact the laboratory, it is not there. It turns out a vicious circle. The consumer was left alone with the manufacturer. Often these are imported products, and there is no way to even replace them with goods of proper quality. We must pass the new law on consumer protection in the first half of next year,” A.Shakkaliyev said.
