1. Visa regime

  1. To enter the Republic of Kazakhstan, foreign citizens require a visa depending on the purpose of the trip and length of stay. Depending on the purpose of the visit and the length of stay of the foreigner, visas will also be divided into the necessary categories:
  • Business visa
  • Work visa
  • Family visa
  • Private visa
  • Tourist visa
  • Investor visa
  • Business Immigrant Visa
  • Visa for obtaining a residence permit

2. Visa-free regime

  1. A visa is not required for citizens of those countries with which Kazakhstan has entered into separate bilateral agreements on mutual visa-free travel. For example, with Russia or Azerbaijan.

 

Near Abroad

The procedure for entry and stay of citizens of the following countries is determined by bilateral agreements;

In January 2022, Kazakhstan resumed a visa-free regime for citizens of 54 countries.

Duration of stay. Citizens of 54 countries can stay in Kazakhstan without a visa for up to 30 calendar days on each visit. The number of visits is unlimited. However, the total period for such visits should not exceed 90 calendar days within a 180-day period.

Under the visa-free regime, foreign citizens can visit Kazakhstan for tourism, private and short-term business purposes. In this case, business trips may include meetings and negotiations, concluding contracts, as well as participation in conferences and forums.

Important.As part of visa-free travel, foreigners are prohibited from engaging in labor or other paid activities in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Any installation and repair work, consulting and audit services, and training sessions are also prohibited. For such purposes, a visa is required.

3. Notification of arrival

Notification of a foreigner’s stay is required within 3 working days from the date of his entry into Kazakhstan. Does not depend on the order of entry and length of stay, as well as the purpose of the foreigner’s visit.

The notification is submitted by the receiving party (inviting person) to the migration service through the Visa and Migration Portalvmp.gov.kzor systemseQonaq.kz. You should also notify the migration service if:

  • change of address within the city,
  • a trip to another city in Kazakhstan.

Failure to submit a notification in a timely manner entails administrative liability of the receiving party in accordance with Article 518 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

4. List of documents for visas

To obtain a visa to enter the Republic of Kazakhstan you must provide:

1) Visa application form for a visa with a color or black and white photograph measuring 3.5 x 4.5 centimeters;

2) when issuing a visa at a foreign institution of the Republic of Kazakhstan or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the number, date of the invitation registered with the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan (the number and date of issue of the invitation to the visa recipient is reported by the inviting party), or a petition from the recipient of the visa category;

3) a valid diplomatic, official, foreign passport of a foreign state, or other identity document recognized as such by the Republic of Kazakhstan and granting the right to cross the State Border of the Republic of Kazakhstan;

4) original payment documents confirming payment of the consular fee;

Amounts of paid consular fees are non-refundable.

5) additional documents required to obtain a visa in accordance with the visa category (from the company)
